Set up in 1974, Canara Steel Limited has successfully braved through the rough weather of industry specific negative aberrations by meeting the production targets well on time.
Licensed to manufacture 18,000 MT of MS ignots every year the Company has diversified into production of steel castings along with rolled products and billets, thus becoming an excellent example of an integrated mini steel plant. It has an impressive list of satisfied customers who form a cross- section of the elite in the industry.
It is proposed to set up a multi-product steel complex with Canara Steel as the nucleus by taking advantage of its unique location near the Mangalore Port, which itself is undergoing expansion and modernisation.
Plans are afoot to convert CSL into a Midi Steel Plant. The Midi Steel Plant will have a capacity of 200,000 tonnes per year through a blast furnace and related steel making and rolling facilities. The unit will also have a coke plant based on the new technology from Raytheon, USA for producing 260,000 tonnes of coke a year. With this new technology the plant will be totally environment friendly and pollution free.
